Just thought I would start with a poem .....just to set the tone...

Keeping Quiet

Now we will count to twelve
and we will all keep still.

This one time upon the earth,
let's not speak any language,
let's stop for one second,
and not move our arms so much.

It would be a delicious moment,
without hurry, without locomotives,
all of us would be together
in a sudden uneasiness.

The fishermen in the cold sea
would do no harm to the whales
and the peasant gathering salt
would look at his torn hands.

Those who prepare green wars,
wars of gas, wars of fire,
victories without survivors,
would put on clean clothing
and would walk alongside their brothers
in the shade, without doing a thing.

What I want shouldn't be confused
with final inactivity:
life alone is what matters,
I want nothing to do with death.

If we weren't unanimous
about keeping our lives so much in motion,

if we could do nothing for once,
perhaps a great silence would
interrupt this sadness,
this never understanding ourselves
and threatening ourselves with death,
perhaps the earth is teaching us
when everything seems to be dead
and then everything is alive.

Now I will count to twelve
and you keep quiet and I'll go. Pablo Neruda

  1. Ah! We meet again! The magic of poetry! Personally I prefer that great Scottish bard, and boy was he bard, Bill McGonagal. And you follow the Trollbuster General's blog? That’s most kind of you. I haven't posted anything recently because I'm feeling a bit jaded. And other projects need attention. If you have the time to visit "Shavedcook" in Interpals and look at the messages on my wall you'll see why. What a pathetic bunch of wankers! All trying to produce a more creative profile than mine and falling by the wayside.

As for your blog - fascinating! And you're quite wrong about the communists not wishing to look at naked people. Joseph Stalin would often attend Politburo meetings either partially clothed or totally starkers. It’s not a well known fact but he persuaded Churchill and Roosevelt to do the same during one of their meetings in Yalta.

  5. A blogging asbo is a bad thing, because if you in somebody's 'bloglist, it doesn't update it when you do a new post. And people have to click and wait and then click again to get past the 'unsuitable content' page.
